It's impossible to overstate the treasure that was Maurice Sendak and the beautiful words and images he has left behind. Since the mid-1960's, his books have been essential reading for so many children. The beauty was not only in the illustrations but in his courageous leaps into the sometimes haunting parts of our humanity; something even children could connect to (and certainly the parents too). I still read 'Where the Wild Things Are' to my daughter and after 3 years of reading it to her, she never tires of Max's adventure because so much is left to the imagination. Thank you Maurice Sendak for your gift to the world, as you
sail through night and day...
