#11 - Out of Diapers Sooner

Ok, so the Top Ten List actually has "11" top ten things you should know about cloth diapers. But who can deny the importance of potentially having one or even two years less of dealing with poopy diapers! Sign me up! Until it was time to actually potty train our daughter, we thought there was still a chance that cloth diapered kids getting out of diapers sooner than disposable diapered kids was just a myth. Well, it isn't. It's not because cloth diaper kids are smarter or more advanced, it's simply that they learn very quickly that they don't want to be in wet diapers (who would!).
The kids in disposable diapers have all their wetness absorbed into gel packs and can pee a few times until they feel wet. And not only do cloth diaper kids potty train sooner but they potty train faster. We could have started potty training at 14 months (there were obvious signs but we got lazy!) but at 23 months, our daughter was done with diapers in two weeks (she wore a night time pocket diaper for a couple of months for insurance). It's not a guarantee, of course, but you can certainly add it to the list of the great benefits of cloth diapering along with the environment, health and budget.
